Chapter One- Hanabi
“Yugi! Telephone’s for you!” Soloman Moto poked his head into his grandson’s room. The spiky-haired teen was sitting cross-legged on the floor, chatting with his friends. Yugi rushed forward and took the phone from his grandfather’s hand. “Thanks Gramps! Hello?” Yugi said into the phone. There was a pause. “Um... Who is this? Hello?” Yugi pushed the off button. “They hung up...” Yugi sighed. “What did they want?” A white-haired teen asked from inside Yugi’s closet. “Apparently, there’s going to be a tournament held soon.” Yugi walked over to the closet. “Bakura, what are you looking for?” Yugi peered into his dark closet. “A rubber band, or something of that nature...” He poked his head out of the small space. “Oh, there are some in the kitchen.” “Thank you, Yugi!” Bakura left the room, continuing on his quest for a rubber band. “So, a tournament?” Joey grinned excitedly. “Mm-hm!” Yugi nodded. “The person said that called said that someone would come by with more information. But I wonder who’s hosting it?” //They must have another Millennium Item!// Yami mentally warned. /I don’t think so. We know where all the Millennium items are, right?/ //Yes, but things like that can change suddenly and without warning.// /You worry too much, Yami./ //Maybe so, but YOU worry to little, aibou.// Yami closed the link between his and Yugi’s mind. Yugi sighed. Bakura re-entered the room and sat down on Yugi’s bed next to Tea. He pulled his hair back, and tried to tie it with the rubber band Yugi’s grandfather had found for him, after he had unsuccessfully tried to reach one that was on the top hook of a pan rack, and earned a large bump on his head from a pan-avalanche. “Why’re you tying your hair back, Bakura?” Tea asked, looking up from a random book she found somewhere in Yugi’s room. Bakura looked towards Joey and Tristan, who were trying to look like angels while holding back laughter. They had gotten bored, and, having nothing better to do, started messing with Bakura’s long white hair. Seeing how many pulls it would take for him to notice, sticking random items in it, and other weird games. “You guys are so immature.” Tea rolled her eyes. “Eheh, sorry Bakura!” Joey rubbed his hand behind his head nervously. “It’s alright.” Bakura smiled, but didn’t move back to his former spot on the floor in front of Joey and Tristan. “So, did the person on the phone say when the person would come here?” Tea asked, changing the subject. “No...” Just then, there was a knock on the door downstairs. “I got it!” Joey and Tristan both yelled and rushed downstairs at the same time. Bakura was having a vicious battle with his hair and the rubber band, and, judging by the bangs, curses, and crashes coming from downstairs, Tristan and Joey were fighting for the title of Official Door-Opener of the Kame Game Shop. Tea sighed heavily and walked passed the struggling Bakura, who was apparently losing his battle with the circular piece of rubber, down the stairs, through the main part of the game shop, where Tristan and Joey were at war, and to the door, which she opened with skill only a teenage girl who is very annoyed with certain people’s immaturity could. “Hello...” Tea greeted the stranger who was standing a full four feet tall in front of her. The boy had short, brown hair, and large, green eyes. Clad in a white, long-sleeved shirt, and brown pants, a brown beanie hat finished off the whole messenger look. The small boy nodded. “I’m hear to speak to Mr. Yugi Moto, please.” “Oh, sure, he’s right upstairs...” Tea led the child up the flight of stairs into Yugi’s room, shoving Joey with her foot on the way.

Fireworks: Chapter one, continued...
The brunette bowed to Yugi. “Mr. Yugi Moto, you, and Mr. Joey Wheeler, have been invited to a Duel Monsters tournament, hosted by my uncle. Though he wishes very much that you would be so kind to attend, neither you, nor Mr. Wheeler, are required to come.” the petite boy bowed once again. “If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them straight away.” A loud thud from the edge of the bed distracted both the boy and Yugi, who whirled around to see what had caused the interruption. Bakura, in his rush to vanquish the rubber band that was badly tangled in his spiky hair, had neglected his seating, and fallen off Yugi’s bed. He started rolling on the floor, yanking as hard as he could at the rubber item, in a last-ditch attempt to remove it from his white locks. “Bakura?” Yugi crawled to the edge of his bed and peered down at his struggling friend. “You ok?” “Just... Fine... Yugi! Owww!” Bakura winced as a large chunk of his silvery hair came out of his scalp. “Look on the bright side!” Joey told him from the doorway. Tea's shove had conveyed the message that the visitor was there, so he and Tristan had stopped fighting and come upstairs. “At least the rubber band’s out.” “I suppose so...” Bakura looked sadly at the clump of hair in his hand. “Oh!” He looked from Yugi to the young visitor and blushed. “Terribly sorry for interrupting!” “That's alright. So... Just who is your uncle?” Yugi asked, turning towards the brunette. “His name is Makoto Saorane, and he is very interested in Duel Monsters. He wants to see how the youth of today battle using them.” “Hey!” Joey stared suspiciously at the kid. “Do you have a name?” He asked, rather rudely. “Be nice, Joey!” Yugi warned. “It’s perfectly alright.” The boy smiled. “My name is Hanabi Saorane.” “Hmm-hm.” Joey nodded. “Never trust the ones with no name.” Tea rolled her eyes again. “Hanabi, are there any new rules to this tournament?” Yugi asked, helping Bakura, who had been mourning the loss of his hair for the past thirty seconds or so, back to his feet. “Yes. No sacrifices are needed to summon monsters of great power, any number of the same card can be used as you wish, and you start with 8000 life points.” Hanabi said. “What about the Dueling?” Joey sat down in Yugi’s desk chair. “Holographic images, and a booth in which the players place and play their cards.” the brunette bowed once more. “I must go now. If you have anymore questions, please save them until the opening day, December 17th, in the large building on the corner of Kaoru and Kokoro.” Once Hanabi had left, the five teenage friends took their usual places around Yugi’s room to discuss the tournament. “I’m gonna re-do my deck!” Joey said proudly, showing off a few new cards. Bakura took them from him and inspected them with interest. “These are really good cards, Joey!” Bakura commented and handed Joey back his cards. Joey smiled confidently. “Guys...” Tristan sat cross-legged on Yugi’s pillow, arm’s folded tightly, obviously in deep thought. “If this Makoto guy wanted to see how kids today duel, why did he change the rules so much? People will duel way differently than they normally do, so what’s the point?” “That’s a good question...” Yugi scrunched up his nose as he tried to think up different reasons as to Makoto’s considerable change to the rules.
To be continued...
Hm... Well, I tried to give Bakura some extra screen time, and to make it humorous... I'm partially re-writing Chapter Three, so it migh be awhile.... By the way, this is the edited version of Chapter One, so if you read it at Rayquaza's Lair, you mighthave noticed some changes.
